Saumya Sharma, Rank 9, Essay Marks 160, UPSC Topper 2017

I am sharing the journey of Saumya Sharma, who secured AIR 9 in UPSC 2017 in first attempt at the age of 23. She formally started my UPSC preparation on 19 February 2017, four months before the prelims, when she was in my final semester at National Law University, Delhi. Her optional was law, for which she started preparing only after writing prelims. Many people spread misconception that coaching is very important for cracking UPSC and like many others, she did not take any coaching and proved this wrong. Though, she joined many many test series.

More than that, she got fever during her mains exam. But with her sheer determination and hardwork, she didn't stopped to crack this exam. So I request you all, to gear-up and start putting your efforts in right direction. For General Studies, like all other toppers, she started by studying all the standard textbooks-

हिंदी अनुवाद मैं सौम्य शर्मा की यात्रा साझा कर रहा हूं, जिन्होंने 23 साल की उम्र में पहले प्रयास में UPSC 2017 में AIR 9 को सुरक्षित किया था। उन्होंने औपचारिक रूप से 19 फरवरी 2017 को, प्रीलीम्स से चार महीने पहले अपनी यूपीएससी तैयारी शुरू की, जब वह राष्ट्रीय कानून विश्वविद्यालय, दिल्ली में अपने अंतिम सेमेस्टर में थीं। उसका वैकल्पिक कानून था, जिसके लिए उसने केवल प्राथमिकताओं को लिखने के बाद ही तैयारी करना शुरू कर दिया था। बहुत से लोग गलत धारणा फैलते हैं कि यूपीएससी को तोड़ने और कई अन्य लोगों की तरह कोचिंग बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है, उसने कोई कोचिंग नहीं ली और यह गलत साबित कर दिया। हालांकि, उन्होंने कई टेस्ट सीरीज दिया।

उससे अधिक, उन्हें अपनी मुख्य परीक्षा के दौरान बुखार हो गया।। लेकिन उनके दृढ़ संकल्प और कड़ी मेहनत के साथ, उन्हें इस परीक्षा में सफलता मिली। इसलिए मैं आप सभी से अनुरोध करता हूं कि गियर-अप करें और अपने प्रयासों को सही दिशा में डालना शुरू करें। सामान्य अध्ययन के लिए, अन्य सभी टॉपर्स की तरह, उसने सभी मानक पाठ्यपुस्तकों का अध्ययन करके शुरुआत की -
